'Inside // Out' opens on OneWALL this FRI 6pm July 04.
A collaborative project for Jodie Watt and Veronique Sirianni, ‘Inside // Out’  reveals the pair’s take on the world through a polaroid camera.
Jodie presents  a journey into the overlooked: pointing out and holding up high the small pleasures and details of her outside world.
While Veronique turns the lens inwards.
She took the time to sit with, ahh, me and chat about her/ my up coming show.
V1 (me): So, Veronique. I hear you are exhibiting this Friday up on OneWALL at MARS on theGRID. Can you tell us a little bit about it?
V2 (also me): Why yes Veronique, I sure can. It’s a series of polaroids I’ve taken over the past two years of everyday things in my life.
V1: So, like instagram on a wall?V2 (still me): No, not at all. And yes, I guess. I use the polaroid to take photos of things that are special to me. One-off things.  So while it’s over two years, there’s less than 40 in total.
V1: So why not just put up one polaroid of your instagram user name so people can just look at all this online?
V2: Well with instagram, you can’t physically print them out and hold the pictures. People don’t have to be interested in my life, I’m just showing an insight into what a life looks like when you don’t have the responsibility of counting ‘likes’ online.
I want the viewers to come up with their own idea of what my life is like. The way I see it though is, it’s all about judgement. Judging a book by it’s cover or in my case, a photo by it’s content.

I had the chance to duck into the studio of traveller and next artist on OneWALL, Christine Quinlivan last week.
Christine’s studio is a spacious one. I meant to take photos of her space but we got talking and it didn’t happen.
There is a trestle table surrounded by white plastic chairs set up in the middle of her studio, which looks like a new extension to her cottage near Groome Park. Christine regularly runs Art Classes and had a list of questions ready for me before we install ‘Inner Awakening’ tomorrow.
Stacks of books, older works and eccentric figurines circle Christine’s studio.
All the while, incense burning from another room and meditative music in the background added to the concepts Christine will present when her exhibition, ‘Inner Awakening’ opens 7PM this Saturday.
When Christine’s daughter Elouise Quinlivan came up to me a little while ago and mentioned her mother would like to have a show on OneWALL, I thought it would be a great opportunity to showcase the creative gene in the family. Elouise’s solo exhibition at the end of her residency with Jesse Wright on theGRID last year, showed the travel gene is certainly strong among the Quinlivans.
Now we get to see Christine’s talents on the canvas.

'Inner Awareness' hangs from June 20 - July 02. Official opening 7PM, this Saturday JUNE 21. Cash bar // nibbles All Welcome

Next up on OneWall;
Open - 21 June till 7 July
  CHRISTINE QUINLIVAN
INNER AWAKENING
This body of work documents a segment of my journey of opening to new levels of conscious awareness. The works invite the viewer to engage with their spiritual centre, through recognition of the symbols, light and energy inherent in aspects of consciousness.
My process includes using a range of media whilst listening to meditative music as a means of linking to the universal energy flow, which is then transferred to the artworks.

My artworks have been influenced by my travels to India and Tibet and the personal inner awakening that followed.

This week, Intern Vee is meeting with Christine to see where she creates her beautiful pieces, what influences her and how she is in her natural habitat :-)
Stay updated, and I will keep you posted!

MAY - BELINDA SINCLAIR

Belinda Sinclair, born in Melbourne but now based in Wynnum - Brisbane.

"Throughout her childhood frequent visits to Hanging Rock, Kryal Castle and Fairy Park fostered a love of myth, folklore and magic that has, combined with a deep interest in science and psychology materialised into a perplexing and inquisitive arts practice.

The power of fable and myth to transform and inspire is central to Belinda’s work, fuelled by contemporary concerns and anxieties her work is symbolic of an effort to bring wonder and enchantment back into world. Working within the realm of imaginary landscapes, Belinda creates totemic and otherworldly works where the mundane and the magical rub shoulders and everything is more than it seems.

Belinda is an emerging artist who studied visual arts at Southbank Institute of Technology with a focus on Printmaking and Sculpture. As a exhibiting artist she has been a finalist in several national art prizes in recent years including the Churchie National Art Prize, ExLibris Artist Book Awards and the Wilson Art Prize, her work is held in public and private collections nationally and internationally.”

For the month of April, our very own Emily Glover is showcasing her work.

It is always such a wonderful vibe in the MARS gallery. The show will be up until the 17th of Feb. Come pop in and say hello to the friendly staff and check out what these two lovely artists have the last few months developing.

On Wednesday, Alison and I picked up Alison Burke’s artwork and we were pleasantly surprised. Alison has more than a handful of works to showcase next Friday the 17th on OneWall. There is more than enough variety with her works, something that will suit everyone, at all ages. They are inviting and draw you in with every step closer you take. Alison’s work is immaculate with the amount of detail she has gone to, to make these paintings a work of art.
The show opens Friday the 17th Jan at 7pm. Be there and see for yourself how Alison has pushed herself to produce great pieces for all to see.
